We are happy to support the Friends of Baxter State Park for the month of March! They do all kinds of cool stuff to support and preserve the legacy of Governor Percival Baxter. Programs include trail support, Maine Youth Wilderness Leadership, Baxter Youth Conservation Corps, and the Plants of Baxter State Park program which is particular interest to us because one of it’s goals is to set a baseline for monitoring climate change.
This is our second time supporting FBSP–the first being in conjunction with our niece’s participation in the Maine Youth Wilderness Leadership program. This program was super influential for her–meeting people with the same love for the woods and making her wish she could just “live in the woods forever.”
“Friends of Baxter State Park is an independent citizen group with a mission to preserve, support, and enhance the wilderness character of Baxter State Park in the spirit of its founder, Governor Percival Baxter” and if you would like to learn more visit their website at friendsofbaxter.org.
