For another summer, we will be Rolling Fatties once a week in Skowhegan. For a long time, Skowhegan has been the same to us: a necessary business center, kind of sad, and potentially awesome. In more recent years, it has started trending toward the awesome end of things. There is an under current of activity that is starting to boil up with the addition of a fantastic Farmers’ Market, and new businesses like Maine Grains, The Pickup, The Bankery, and Happyknits. Although out of town, Bigelow Brewing has taken a strong hold of Friday and Saturday nights in the area with music, pizza, and beer. And then there’s Run of River, a proposed water park from the dam to the eddy and that is getting attention and even funding in it’s early stages with help from the downtown revitalization efforts of Maine Street Skowhegan. There are bike trails, there are walking paths, and there are some interesting vacant properties. There is a lot going on here and we are pumped to be a small part of it all.
Our new location for summer 2017 is more us. It’s at the end of the walking bridge, with a more parking. You can hear the river and see it through the tangle of trees and bushes. There is some peaceful shade. We are off the beaten path, in a sneaky spot. With a little love, we see great things happening here. Fatties for starters.:) Look for picnic tables and some grounds work over the next couple of weeks!
We’ll be rolling in Skowhegan every Thursday from 11:30-2 EXCEPT JUNE 15th and possibly JULY 27th!
