Things To Do in Kingfield, Maine

Kingfield, Maine is a beautiful town on the Carrabassett River in the High Peaks region of Maine. It’s a small sweet place with a grocery store, hardware store and lumber company, convenience stores, a few restaurants, a couple great B and Bs, an inn, a hotel, a cute, little and well-stocked library, a Montessori school, an elementary school, a bike park, a town park, hiking, biking, snowmobile and ATV trails, a pharmacy, a health center, an alternative health center, lush fields, tall mountains, a fancy ski resort right up the road, and some local characters. Outdoor recreation opportunities abound, winter, spring, summer and fall.

Freeman Ridge Bike Park

A private, family-run mountain bike trail network on Freeman Ridge Road in Freeman Township, Maine, one mile outside of downtown Kingfield, one of our favorite places to ride with friends! Freeman Ridge Bike Park offers approximately 5 miles of hand and machine constructed mountain bike trail, and continues to expand their network. With trails and features for all levels of mountain biker, FRBP is a gem in the Western Maine biking community! And somewhere Adventure Night at Fatties often takes us.

Carrabassett Valley Trails

Carrabassett Region NEMBA is a non-profit organization dedicated to the building and maintenance of a sustainable mountain bike trail network in Carrabassett Valley and surrounding areas. Kingfield is home to the Maine Huts & Trails headquarters, and gateway to the trails. In the winter the trails are groomed for Nordic skiing, snowshoeing and fat biking. Spring, summer and fall sees hikers and bikers on the trails… exploring waterfalls, mountain views, and seemingly endless forests.

Kingfield Trail Builders

A small but developing community trail network in and around Kingfield with about 3 miles of hand built trails. The trails are connected to the downtown as well as to Freeman Ridge Bike Park and parking is available down town or at the Gateway Parking lot just south of town. Trail building continues!

Webster Library

Located at 22 Depot Street in Kingfield, the Webster Library always has something great going on. There is internet access and during the summer, there are picnic tables outside for you to enjoy. See Webster Library on Facebook for the latest happenings.

Stanley Museum

The Museum, located at 40 School Street in Kingfield Maine, houses four Stanley Steamer automobiles along with a family room dedicated to the history, ingenuity and the artistic talents of the Stanley Family.
